![]() Working in today's hotels can be more diverse than you can possibly imagine. "Pubs" range from your traditional Aussie pub, large or small, renovated inner city establishments, modern, replica-type ( like Kitty O'Shea's ) to open beachside or waterside types ( Watson's Bay / Newport Arms ), cool eclectic bars hidden from the mainstream, cosy suburban pubs ( The River Oaks Balmain ) to the ultra sleek cocktail lounge bars ( Soho and Manly's Aqua Bar ). Hotels have fewer staff and hence a smaller, more personally involved management team. So, what suits you best? Are you more outgoing and independent? Choose a pub. Particularly, if personal service and interaction with patrons really drives you - hotels are your best bet. If you take direction well and rely on a solid structure for work processes, then you may be best choosing a Club. Other factors in considering a job in a pub may include :
